Guac iPad And iOS Issues

The Guac Booth, with both the Guac Brain and the Fiesta Software interacting, can at times run into issues with the two properly communicating. With the intricate connection they have, it is important to understand some basic troubleshooting for the times when the two run into issues connecting - whether from external interference, or physical issues.

What To Know
Guac Not Connected

Possible causes:

  • iPad is not connected to USB-C cable
  • Guac is not connected to power
  • Ethernet settings are not correct

Troubleshooting steps:

  1. Check that the USB-C cable is securely connected to the iPad inside Guac.
  2. Check that Guac is plugged into power.
  3. Check the Ethernet settings in the iPad's Settings app.

How To
Resolve Guac Not Connected

If Guac is powered on and the iPad is connected:

  1. Open the iPad Settings app
  2. Tap Ethernet in the left navigation
  3. Confirm that the settings are correct:
    • Configure IP: Manual
    • IP Address: 172.16.0.7
    • Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

Note: If your settings are incorrect, you will not be able to print or control the LED ring. You can follow this guide to set up the Ethernet settings.

What To Know
Camera Not Connected

Possible causes:

  • Camera is not powered on.
  • Camera sync cable is not connected to the camera or USB hub.
  • iPad is not connected to the USB-C cable.

Troubleshooting steps:

  • Check that the camera is powered on
  • Check that the sync cable is firmly connected to both the camera and the bottom USB port on the USB hub inside Guac.
  • Check that the iPad is connected to the USB-C cable.
  • Check that the iPad is charging when the booth is plugged into power.

How To
Resolve Camera Not Connected

If the iPad is connected to the USB-C cable but it is not charging:

  1. Open the iPad Settings app
  2. Tap General
  3. Tap Shut Down
  4. Slide to power off the iPad
  5. Unplug Guac from power and wait 15 seconds
  6. Plug Guac back into power. The iPad should automatically turn back on.
  7. Open the Fiesta iOS App and check the Guac Dashboard.

If the iPad is connected and charging:

  1. Open the iPad Settings app
  2. Tap Privacy & Security
  3. Tap Files and Folders
  4. Toggle on Fiesta

If the camera's back screen displays a battery icon and a laptop icon:

  1. Close the Fiesta iOS App
  2. Disconnect the data sync cable from the side of the camera, then reconnect it
  3. Relaunch the Fiesta iOS App

Printer Not Connected

Possible causes:

  • Printer USB cable is not connected to Guac and/or the printer
  • Printer is not powered on
  • Ethernet settings are not correct

Troubleshooting steps:

  1. Check that the printer is connected to power and turned on.
  2. Check that the USB port under the Guac head
  3. Check that the USB port on the back of the printer
  4. Check the Ethernet settings in the iPad's Settings app

Error: Wifi Network Preventing Guac Connection

Possible causes:

  • The Wi-Fi network that the iPad is connected to has the same IP address as Guac.

Troubleshooting steps:

  1. Open the iPad’s Settings app
  2. Tap Wi-Fi in the left navigation
  3. Tap the i button next to the Wi-Fi network you’re connected to
  4. Check the IP Address under IPV4 Address

Resolve Error: Wifi Network Preventing Guac Connection

If the IP address starts with 172.16.0:

  1. Tap Ethernet in the left navigation
  2. Tap USB 10/100/1000 LAN
  3. Tap Configure IP
  4. Select Manual
  5. Tap IP Address
  6. Enter in 10.0.0.7
  7. Tap Save
    Note:
    After tapping Ethernet your iPad may show AX88179A Instead of USB 10/100/1000 LAN

 

If the IP address does not start with 172.16.0:

  1. Tap Ethernet in the left navigation
  2. Tap USB 10/100/1000 LAN
  3. Tap Configure IP
  4. Select Manual
  5. Tap IP Address
  6. Enter in 172.16.0.7
  7. Tap Subnet Mask
  8. Enter in 255.255.255.0
  9. Tap Save
    Note: After tapping Ethernet your iPad may show USB 10/100/1000 LAN

iPad Not Charging

Possible causes:

  • The iPad is not plugged into Guac
  • USB-C cable is not connected to the USB hub inside the Guac head
  • Power adapter is not plugged into the outlet inside the Guac head

Troubleshooting steps:

  • Check the Guac Dashboard to see if the camera is connected. If the camera is turned on shows as not connected, skip to the steps below.
  • Ensure that the USB-C cable is connected to the iPad.
  • Ensure that the USB-C cable is connected to the adapter and the adapter is plugged into the outlet inside the Guac head.
