Before You Start
Before assembling Chips, first assemble Guac and set up the iPad.
If those steps are incomplete, follow the guides below before proceeding:
- Set up and Install the Canon Camera
- Install the iPad and confirm the iPad'sBasic iOS Settings and iOS Ethernet Settings
- Assemble the Guac Photo Booth
The following parts are required for assembling Chips:
- Base plate
- Pole
- Printer shell
- Printer platform
- DNP 620A Printer
- Printer Media Kit
- AC power cable
- Phillips-head screwdriver
Optional parts:
- Printer USB cable
Step One
Attach The Baseplate, Pole, and Printer Platform
- Place the base plate on the floor with the longer end facing away from where the prints will be dispensed
- Run the AC power cable under the base plate and through the hole
Note: If using wired printing, run the printer USB cable from Guac through the center hole - Run the power cable (and printer USB cable if used) up through the pole
- Attach the pole to the base plate by tightening both knobs on the pole at the same time
Note: To confirm the correct orientation of the metal knobs on the Chips pole, ensure that the two metal knobs form an 'X' shape before seating the Chips Platform - Adjust the AC power and printer USB cables so that a few inches of the power cable (and about one foot of the USB cable if being used) extend from the top of the pole
- Place the printer platform over the pole and guide the cables through the platform opening
- Align the platform lip with the opening, and ensure the two tabs are aligned with the long end of the base plate
- Push down on the printer platform to avoid any gaps and tighten the knobs to fasten to the base plate
- Connect the female end of the power cable to the printer platform
Note: For wired printing, pull the USB cable toward the back of the printer platform so that it reaches the printer port in the back of the DNP DS620A printer
IMPORTANT: If the platform will not sit on the pole, swap to use one of the Guac poles. The poles are interchangeable. If the issue persists, contact the PBSCO Support Team for assistance.
Step Two
Place The Printer On The Stand
- Position the DNP 620A on the printer platform with the rear of the printer snug against the two alignment tabs at the back of the platform
- Gently pull out the power cable from beneath the printer and connect it to the back of the printer
- Pull any excess power cable slack back under the printer platform and through the pole
- For wireless printing, plug the printer cable attached to the printer platform into the back of the printer. For wired printing, plug the printer USB cable connected to Guac into the back of the printer
- Plug the AC power cable into a power source, and flip the power switch on the printer to ON
Step Three
Load Printer Media
- Open the printer by lifting up on the bar found at the bottom front of the printer and pulling the printer tray forward
- Remove the ink ribbon tray from inside the printer and place it on a flat surface
- Take the ink ribbon and insert it into the ink ribbon tray by aligning the spools into the proper slots
Note: Confirm the ink ribbon is running along the top of the ink ribbon tray - Slide the ink ribbon tray back into the printer
- Press the blue lever found on the side of the printer and lift to reveal the scraps tray and paper spool
- Remove the scraps tray by lifting it up
- Remove the paper spool and separate the two sides by gently pulling them apart
- Take the printer paper and insert each half of the paper spool into either end of the printer paper
- Load the printer paper with the paper feeding down, and remove all stickers on the paper
- Roll the printer spool down until the printer beeps
- Reinsert the scraps tray into the front of the printer
- Close the printer door and push the printer back in until it locks into place
IMPORTANT: Always remove printer media before transporting the printer. Removing the media and reloading it into the printer upon arrival at the venue will ensure that both the printer and media are ready to create beautiful prints.
Step Four
Attach Printer Cover
- Place the printer shell over the printer, confirming the opening is aligned with the front of the printer
- Attach the printer catch tray
- The Chips Photo Booth is ready for use
Optional: For extra security around the printer shell, attach the knobs found in the Chips case to the bottom of the printer platform.

Wired Vs Wireless Printing
Chips supports both wired and wireless printing. Chips uses a proprietary connection to perform wireless printing.
Wired printing offers a faster and more reliable experience than wireless printing.
Wireless printing, on the other hand, offers greater convenience in placing the printer farther away from Guac without worrying about connecting cables between the two booths.
