How To Update Guac Firmware

 

The Guac Firmware is responsible for managing hardware connections within the booth, including the printer and LED ring.

Routine updates bring performance improvements and additional features.

What is the Guac Firmware?

 

The Guac Firmware is a piece of software that is installed on the computer inside of Guac.

This firmware is responsible for managing the hardware, both inside and outside of Guac, and their communication with the iPad which allows you to control the printer and LED ring.

Firmware updates may include performance improvements and new features for these hardware components.

The Hardware Dashboard is where you can download and install the updates.

Before You Start

Check For iPad And App Updates

 

Before attempting to download any Guac Firmware updates, be sure to check that both your iPadOS and Fiesta App are completely up to date.

To Update the iPadOS:

  1. Open the iPad's Settings app

  2. Tap on General on the left-hand side

  3. Tap on Software Update

  4. Tap on update if there's an update available

Updating Fiesta:

  1. Open the iPad's App Store app

  2. Tap on your photo/initials that are in the upper right-hand corner of the screen

  3. Check to see if Fiesta has an update available on that list; if it does, please update it


Before You Start

Turn On Guac And Connect To WiFi

 

After ensuring both the iPad and Fiesta app are running the newest versions, you’ll need to make sure that Guac is powered on, the iPad is installed and connected to Wi-Fi, and the Ethernet settings are configured.

You can follow these guides for assembly, installation, and settings:


Step 1

Check For Updates

 

To check for updates:

  1. Log in to the Fiesta iOS App

  2. Tap the Account Management Dropdown in the top right corner

  3. Tap Hardware Dashboard

  4. Check the Firmware Update section for any updates

Note: If the System Check section on the Hardware Dashboard reports that Guac is not connected, you may need to check that everything is connected and your Ethernet settings are correct.

Step 2

Download New Firmware

 

If an update is available, from the Fiesta iOS software:

  1. Tap the Account Management Dropdown in the top right corner

  2. Tap Hardware Dashboard

  3. Tap Download in the Firmware Update section

  4. Confirm by tapping Download Firmware Now

The firmware will now begin to download. Depending on the internet speed of the Wi-Fi network the iPad is connected to, it may take a few moments to complete.


Step 3

Install The Update

 

Once completed, you will receive a message asking if you would like to Update Guac Firmware. You can choose to update the firmware immediately or wait to update it later.

IMPORTANT: You will not be able to use Guac while the update is running.

Do not turn off/unplug the booth or close the app until the update is complete.

If you chose to update the firmware later, you can always return to the Hardware Dashboard to start the update.

To start the Firmware Update:

  1. Log in to the Fiesta iOS App

  2. Tap the Account Management Dropdown in the top right corner

  3. Tap Hardware Dashboard

  4. Tap Update

  5. Confirm by tapping Update Firmware Now
