Chips Assembly Walkthrough

In this video, you’ll learn how to:

  • Assemble the Chips base plate, pole, printer platform, and printer cover

  • Connect the printer for both wired and wireless printing

  • Power on Chips

  • Disassemble Chips

Step One

Attach the Base Plate, Pole, and Printer Platform

  1. Place the base plate on the floor with the longer end facing away from where the prints will be dispensed.

  2. Run the AC power cable under the base plate and through the hole.

    • If you’re using a wired Chips printing, run the USB cable from the Guac through the hole as well.

  3. Run the power cable (and printer USB cable if being used) up through the pole.

  4. Attach the pole to the base plate by loosely tightening both knobs on the pole at the same time.

  5. Adjust the AC power and printer USB cables so that a few inches of the power cable (and about one foot of the USB cable if being used) are coming out from the top of the poles.

  6. Place the printer platform over the pole and feed the cables through the opening.

  7. Align the lip with the opening making sure the two tabs are aligned with the long end of the base plate.

  8. Push down on the printer platform to avoid any gaps and tighten the knobs to fasten to the base plate.

  9. Connect the female end of the power cable to the printer platform.

Note: If using the USB cable for wired printing, pull the USB cable toward the back of the printer platform as it will connect to the back of the printer.

Step two

Place the Printer on the Stand

  1. Place your DNP 620A on the printer platform so the back of the printer is snug against the two tabs at the back of the platform.

  2. Gently pull out the power cable from beneath the printer and connect it to the back of the printer.

  3. Pull any excess power cable slack through the bottom of the printer.

  4. For wireless printing plug the printer cable connected to the printer platform into the back of the printer. For wired printing plug the printer cable connected to your Guac booth into the back of the printer.

  5. Plug Chips into power and flip the power switch on the printer ON.

Step three

Load Printer Media

  1. Open the printer by lifting up on the bar found at the bottom front of the printer and pulling the printer tray forward.

  2. Remove the ink ribbon tray from inside the printer and set it on a flat surface.

  3. Take the ink ribbon and insert it into the ink ribbon tray by aligning the spools into the proper slots.

    • Note: Make sure that the ink ribbon is running along the top of the ink ribbon tray.

  4. Slide the ink ribbon tray back into the printer.

  5. Press the blue lever found on the side of the printer and lift to reveal the scraps tray and paper spool.

  6. Remove the scraps tray by lifting it up.

  7. Remove the paper spool and separate the two sides by gently pulling them apart.

  8. Take the printer paper and insert each half of the paper spool into either end of the printer paper.

  9. Load the printer paper with the paper feeding down and remove any stickers on the paper.

  10. Roll the printer spool down until you hear a beep.

  11. Reinsert the scraps tray into the front of the printer.

  12. Close the printer door and push the printer back in until you hear it lock into place.

IMPORTANT: Always remove printer media before transporting your printer. Removing the media and loading it into the printer when you arrive at the venue will ensure both your printer and media are ready to create beautiful prints.

Step Four

Attach the Printer Cover

  1. Place the printer cover over the printer making sure the opening is aligned with the front of the printer.

  2. Attach the printer tray.

  3. You are ready to use your Chips Printer!

Optional: You can secure the printer shell by attaching the knobs found in your Chips case to the bottom of the printer platform.

What to know

Wireless vs. Wired Printing with Chips

Guac supports both wired and wireless printing with Chips using a proprietary connection.

Wired printing provides a faster and more consistent experience than wireless printing.

Wireless printing, on the other hand, benefits from greater convenience. You can place the printer farther away from the booth without having to worry about connecting cables between the two.
