Why Using Transparent PNGs Is Important

  • PNGs allow the graphic to be transparent wherever there isn’t an image, text, or background. That means your photo will “peek through” the design.

  • JPG files do not allow for transparency.

  • When exporting an overlay, make sure to save it as a PNG with Transparency enabled.

Overlay Dimensions and Camera Aspect Ratio

In-person Salsa events can be set up to take captures in five different aspect ratios. Each one needs a different file dimension to look right.

To make sure the overlay has the right dimensions, make sure to match the overlay dimensions with the camera aspect ratio in Camera Settings on the Salsa iOS app.

Overlay Dimensions (width x height)

  • Portrait (3:4): 2048 x 2732

  • Landscape (4:3): 2732 x 2048

  • Square (1:1): 2048 x 2048

  • 2:3 Ratio: 2048 x 3072

  • 3:2 Ratio: 3072 x 2048
