What is Offline Mode?

OfflineHalf0.5x.png

Offline Mode allows you to run an event even in the absence of a WiFi connection!

If Salsa cannot find a connection – or the connection is too slow – Salsa will automatically go into Offline Mode.

While in Offline Mode, captures will not appear in the Live Gallery, and shares via email and text will not be sent.

Note: All captures, guests’ email addresses, and phone numbers will send out as soon as Salsa is connected to the Internet.

You can tell you are running in Offline Mode if you see a red bar at the top of the Salsa iOS app. This bar is not present after clicking Start Event.

What to Know

Accessing Old Events Offline

OldEventOffline.png

Captures from older events will not load in Offline Mode. Any captures taken in Offline Mode are saved directly in the iPad’s storage.

Once the iPad is connected to the Internet, captures taken in Offline Mode are moved to the event’s Live Gallery.

Captures are automatically removed from the iPad’s storage once they are safely uploaded to the Live Gallery.

Events and captures are always accessible through the web app after they have been uploaded.

  • Created

  • Duplicated

  • Edited

  • Started

In Offline Mode, events cannot be:

  • Deleted

  • Edited by the web app

Note: When editing an event in Offline Mode, you will not be able to access your Asset Library, which is stored online.

what to know

Check Your Internet Connection

SpeedTest.png

It is highly recommended to test the Internet connection and speed before starting your event.

Follow these steps on your iPad to run a test:

  1. Open Safari and go to Fast.com

  2. Wait for the download speed test to complete

  3. Tap “Show more info”

  4. Wait for the upload speed test to complete

The upload speed will determine how quickly your guests receive their captures.

Note: If your upload speed is lower than 2 Mbps, Salsa may go into Offline Mode.

how to

Turn ON Offline Mode

In some cases, it may be worthwhile to place your booth in Offline Mode for a more consistent experience in the presence of an unreliable WiFi signal.

To Turn ON Offline Mode:

  1. Open the iPad Settings

  2. On the lefthand menu click WiFi

  3. Toggle WiFi OFF

  4. Exit the iPad Settings and open Salsa

You will now be operating in Offline Mode until you enable the WiFi on your iPad.
