The steps for installing and setting up the Canon camera and the iPad must be completed before continuing with assembling your Guac Photo Booth.

Before You Start
Required Parts

The following parts are required for assembling the Guac Photo Booth:

  • Base plate
  • Two poles
  • Guac head (with Canon camera and iPad installed)
  • Godox Flash
  • Reflector Dome
  • Flash Umbrella
  • 25’ AC power cable
  • Philips head screwdriver

Optional parts:

  • 10' Printer USB cable

Guac Assembly Video

In this video, you’ll learn how to:

  • Assemble the base plate, poles, and Guac head
  • Attach the flash, reflector dome, and umbrella
  • Connect the coiled flash sync cable
  • Adjust the flash settings
  • Power on Guac

Note: The Godox MS300-V Flash does not use a standard modeling bulb, it comes with an LED disc that is pre-installed, so no additional step or part is required.

Step One
Attach The Baseplate And Poles

 

  1. Place the base plate on the floor with the longer half facing away from the backdrop, and away from where guests will be standing.
  2. Run the AC power cable under the base plate and through the base plate's rectangular hole in the center of the base plate
    Note: Feed approximately two arms' length of cable through the base plate before moving onto the next step.
    Note: If you’re using a printer, run the USB cable through the hole as well.
  3. Run the power cable (and printer USB cable, if applicable) up through the first pole.
  4. Attach the first pole to the base plate by tightening both knobs on the top of the pole at the same time until they are finger tight
  5. Slightly loosen the knobs to adjust them into an X shape
  6. Repeat steps 3-5 for the second pole.
  7. Adjust the AC power and printer USB cables so that about 1 to 2 inches are coming out from the top of the poles.

Step Two
Attach The Guac Head

  1. Loosen the screw on the back of the Guac head and carefully remove the back door.
  2. Carefully lift the Guac head and plug the AC power cable (and printer USB cable, if applicable) into the bottom of the Guac head.
  3. Place the Guac head on top of the top pole with the iPad and camera facing the backdrop, or towards where guests will be standing.
  4. Fully tighten the knobs inside the Guac head.
  5. Plug the AC power cable into an outlet.
  6. Check the Belkin surge protector inside the Guac head to make sure that “Protected” is lit green and “Not Grounded” is not lit.
  7. Flip the on/off switch on the top of the Canon camera into the On position to turn it on and check for power.

Step Three
Attach The Flash And Umbrella

  1. Unscrew and remove the flash pole from inside the Guac head.
  2. Screw in and tighten the flash pole to the nut on top of the Guac head.
  3. Remove the black plastic cover from the flash by pulling back the quick release switch and rotating the plastic cover.
    IMPORTANT: Do not touch the horseshoe-shaped flash tube with bare skin, as this can permanently damage the flash tube.
  4. Attach the reflector dome to the flash and rotate to lock it in place.
    Note: Make sure that the slit on the reflector aligns with the umbrella mount on the base of the flash handle.
  5. Rotate the larger tilt lock handle on the flash to loosen the flash pole mount.
  6. Adjust the flash pole mount so that it is at a 90-degree angle from the flash and tighten the tilt lock handle again.
  7. Unscrew the smaller flash pole mount lock knob to loosen it until the internal screw cannot be seen when looking down into the flash pole mount.
  8. Place the flash on the pole with the bulb facing the back of the booth and tighten the flash pole mount lock knob to secure the flash onto the pole.
  9. Loosen the large tilt lock handle again and adjust the flash to face upwards at a   45 degree angle, and retighten the handle to lock the flash's angle in place.
  10. Open the umbrella and slide the umbrella pole through the slit in the reflector dome, and through the umbrella mount on the flash.
    Note: The umbrella pole should extend about 1/4 of an inch past the flash.

Note: The Godox MS300-V flash does not use a standard modeling bulb, it comes with an LED disc that is pre-installed, so no additional step or part is required.

Step Four
Plug In The Flash And Configure Settings

  1. Plug the coiled sync cable into the flash.
  2. Plug the flash's power cable into the flash.
  3. Flip the switch on the back of the flash to the line position (—) to turn it on.
  4. Press the light bulb button on the back of the flash to turn on the modeling lamp.
  5. Press the button again until the screen reads “100%” in the bottom right corner.
  6. Short-press the volume button to silence the flash beeps.
  7. Rotate the dial on the back of the flash and set the power to 1/2.

Note: To prevent the flash from being triggered by other flashes or devices in the area, disable the flash's wireless receiver by holding down the GR/CH and S1/S2 buttons at the same time until the wireless tower icon disappears from the top left of the display screen.
