What is Text Sharing?
Text Sharing allows guests to send captures to their phone by entering in their phone number after a session in an in-person event on the Salsa iOS app.
Your Salsa subscription allows for unlimited text messaging so that you don’t have to pay extra for bigger events.
If Salsa is running in Offline Mode, the numbers will be stored and queued up to be sent after the iPad reconnects to the internet.
Successfully receiving text shares are dependent upon the guests’ phone settings and carrier restrictions. Some guests may not receive texts if they have blocked messages from unknown numbers or if their carrier has restrictions for certain text messages.
How To
Turn on Text Sharing
Text sharing is already turned on by default for new events, however it can be turned on or off with ease from the Salsa web app.
To turn on text sharing:
Log in to the Salsa web app
Create a new event or select an already existing event
Click Configure Event
Click the Sharing tab
Click Text on the left hand navigation
Toggle Text Sharing on or off
What To Know
Text Sharing Settings
Text Sharing settings allow you customize the message that is shown alongside the link to the guests’ capture on the Live Gallery.
You can also change the country code that is auto-filled on the phone number entry screen for events with guests who do not have US or Canadian phone numbers.
Message Body
Add a custom or branded message, up to 80 characters long, to be included with a link to the capture
IMPORTANT: To avoid having your messages marked as spam by cell carriers and not delivered, make sure to follow these guidelines:
Don’t include URLs or links to websites in the message body
Avoid using hashtags or the “at” symbol (# or @) in your messages, as these are frequently used in spam messages
Limit the use of emoji - using a lot of emoji will raise red flags
Keep the message you send out clear and direct

Country Code
By default, the country code is set to +1 for the United States and Canada
If you’re an international owner outside of the US and Canada, or have a lot of international guests, you can change the default country code that will appear when they enter their phone number
Guests can also manually change their country code when sending their capture
What To Know
Receiving Text Shares
When guests receive a text message it will include a link to their capture on the Live Gallery along with a customized message if one was added in the Text Sharing settings.
Guests will be given options to share via a social network (if turned on) and download their capture straight from the Live Gallery.
The number from which guests will receive the message will come from a 10-digit phone number (US & Canada) or from a 5-digit short-code number (other countries and regions). These numbers cannot be customized and are randomly selected and are subject to change.
How To
Download and View Collected Phone Numbers
Phone numbers entered in for text sharing from events on the Salsa iOS app are collected in the Sharing & Survey Stats.
The Sharing & Survey Stats are presented as a spreadsheet that can be emailed from the Salsa web app to be downloaded onto a computer.
Log into the Salsa web app
Select the event you want to download the Sharing & Survey Stats from
Click Download & Export
Enter in an email address
Check on Sharing & Survey Stats
Click Send Email
What To Know
Text Shares with QR Code
If QR Code sharing is turned on for the event, guests will be able to choose between entering in their phone number or email address from the website generated by the QR code.
These options cannot be adjusted, so turning off text shares will not turn off phone number entry on the QR code page.
What To Know
Text Shares with Virtual Booth
Text sharing is currently not available with Virtual Booth. Guests will be given the option to email the capture to themselves after a Virtual Booth session.
If running both a Virtual Booth and in-person event with the Salsa iOS app, and text messaging is turned on, guests will be able to share using text messages when using the in-person booth.
