Queso Hashtag Printing

Hashtag Printing is a powerful way to run an event remotely through social media. Any images and videos with a particular hashtag can download directly to Queso so that they appear on both the back screen and Live Gallery - ready to print!

How to

Enable Hashtag Printing

A new or current Instagram account is required to use Hashtag Printing.

  1. Sign in to your account in the General Settings by clicking the hamburger button (≡) on the All Events screen, and then navigate to Instagram

  2. Create a new event or use an existing event. Head over to the Event Settings and tap Hashtag Printing

  3. Tap the toggle to enable Hashtag Printing, which will show all of the additional settings you can customize

Please note you will get an email about your Instagram account being logged in via a phone device. No worries - this is a standard notification. 😄

How To

Add Template Backgrounds and Overlays

Hashtag Printing can be used with either a 4x6 or 6x6 template size. You can add a background and/or overlay to brand or design your photos however you like. We recommend you upload the template background and/or overlay before adding and downloading hashtag images.

  • Under Hashtag Image Print Size you can select either 4x6 or 6x6

  • Tap Upload under Overlay and/or Background to select a .PNG or .JPG file to add to the template

Note: Overlays require a .PNG file

What To Know

Choosing Fill or Scale for Hashtag Images

While most Instagram images are posted as squares, not all images are this size. You can choose how Queso handles non-square images by choosing Fill or Scale under Hashtag Image Print Size.

Fill will format the image to be a square, focusing on the center of the image. It does this by cropping, or cutting off parts of the image. If the image is wider than it is tall, then the sides will be cropped out. If the image is taller than it is wide, then the top and bottom will be cropped out. This makes sure you have a consistent look across the Live Gallery and prints.

Scale will preserve the posted image’s size and will not crop out any part of the image. In order to do this, Queso will reduce the size of the image so that it fits within a square. This will produce a border, or blank space, on either the sides of the image (if it is taller than wide) or on the top and bottom (if it is wider than tall). It is recommended to upload a background image when selecting scale, otherwise the borders will be a blank white.

How To

Add, Search, and Download Hashtag Media

You can add up to three hashtags per event. It is recommended that a template background and/or overlay is uploaded prior to adding and downloading hashtag images.

  • Tap into the text field

  • Type in the hashtag(s) for the event (Note: You do not need to type the hash sign #. When entering multiple hashtags at once, separate them with a space!)

  • Tap Add

  • To search and download previous posts with that hashtag, tap Download next to the hashtag (Note: this may take some time, depending on the popularity of the hashtag)

Once the event is started Queso will check every minute for new posts with the added hashtag and download them to the booth to be displayed on the back screen, printing, and uploaded to the event’s Live Gallery (if it is enabled).

How To

Print and Share Hashtag Media

Once images and videos have been downloaded to Queso they can be shared, printed, and uploaded to the Live Gallery. If Gallery Mode is enabled from the Back Screen settings, guests can access the posts from the back screen of Queso to either email, text, or print just like any other Queso capture.

Hashtag Printing allows for auto-printing of images downloaded from Instagram. Enabling Auto-Print Hashtagged Images will not enable auto-printing for templates.

Important: To ensure Queso is configured to print the correct size, be sure to set the Individual Print Size within Printing settings to the same size as hashtag template (4x6 or 6x6).

If Live Gallery is enabled, images and videos downloaded from Instagram will be uploaded to the event’s Live Gallery.
