What Is An Overlay?

Explainer-WhatIsAnOverlay.png

An Overlay in Fiesta is a transparent design layer that sits on top of a guest's capture. Overlays can be used with Photo, GIF, Boomerang, Video, or 360 captures.

Overlay files do not include a background. The transparent areas allow the guest's capture to show through, while the design appears on top.

What To Know
Difference Between Photo Templates And Overlays

WhatToKnow-DifferenceBetweenPhotoTemplatesAndOverlays.png

Each Overlay contains one fixed Placeholder layer where the guest's capture will appear. Unlike in Photo Templates, Placeholder layers in Overlays cannot be added, removed, resized, or repositioned.

Photo Templates contain between one (1) and four (4) Placeholder layers, along with a Background layer. Unlike Overlays, Photo Template Placeholder layers can be resized, reshaped, and repositioned, giving Photo Templates more layout flexibility than Overlays.

Overlays save as a single branded capture. Photo Templates save both the original captures and the branded Photo Template, which means a single Photo session can save between two and five captures to the Event Gallery, depending on the number of captures in the template.

What To Know
FAQ

Why can't I add more than one Placeholder to an Overlay?

  • An Overlay is intended for a single capture and functions more like a transparent design layer than a multi-capture layout.

What is the difference between an Overlay and a Photo Template?

  • Overlays use a single static Placeholder with no background design, while Photo Templates can include up to four (4) adjustable Placeholders and a Background layer.

Why can I see only the Overlay design in captures after uploading an Overlay?

  • Overlays must be uploaded as transparent PNG files. If the file is not transparent, the capture will not be visible beneath the design.

Can I upload more than one Overlay to an event?

  • Yes, multiple Overlays can be uploaded to a single event. The Overlay used during a capture session depends on the event configuration and available capture options.
