How to Set up Slo-Mo Mode

 

Enable Slo-Mo Mode to offer your guests a fun, interactive experience which records a short video that plays back in slow motion.

In this video, you’ll learn how to:

  • Adjust your Canon camera settings for Slo-Mo

What is Slo-Mo Mode?

 

Slo-Mo is a Capture Mode exclusive to the Guac Booth that records a short video at 120 frames per second, and then slows it down to create a slow-motion effect.

In order to enable Slo-Mo Mode, certain settings need to be adjusted manually on the camera inside of Guac.

Once the event is over and you no longer need Slo-Mo Mode, it is recommended to restore the original camera settings before the next event.


Step One

Adjust the Camera Settings

 

To adjust the camera settings for Slo-Mo Mode:

  1. Plug the Guac Booth into power

  2. Turn camera mode dial to the video camera icon

  3. Press Menu

  4. Select Movie rec quality

  5. Select High Frame Rate

  6. Set High Frame Rate to Enable

  7. Turn the camera dial back to M


Step Two

Set Focus Mode to MF

 
  1. Plug the Guac Booth into power

  2. Turn camera mode dial to the video camera icon

  3. Press Menu

  4. Select Shooting settings

  5. Go to Menu 5

  6. Go down to Focus mode

  7. Set to MF


Step Three

Change In-App Shutter Speed

 
  1. Plug the Guac Booth into power

  2. Open the Salsa iOS app

  3. Select an event or create a new event

  4. Tap the Settings gear

  5. Tap Video Settings

  6. Tap Shutter Speed

  7. Select 1/250


Step Four

Enable Slo-Mo Capture Mode

 

To enable Slo-Mo Mode for an event:

  1. Open the Salsa iOS app

  2. Select an event or create a new event

  3. Tap the Settings gear

  4. Tap Modes

  5. Tap the checkbox next to Slo-Mo to turn it on

Note: Slo-Mo Mode can only be enabled from the Salsa iOS app when it is connected to Guac and plugged into power.


What To Know

Other Capture Modes When the Booth is Set up for Slo-Mo Mode

 

When the Canon camera is set up for Slo-Mo with High Frame Rate enabled and Focus mode set to MF:

  • Boomerang and Video Mode will also be recorded in slow motion.

  • Photos and GIFs may not capture correctly.

If Slo-Mo Mode is enabled, you will not be able to select Boomerang or Video Mode for that event.


What To Know

Restoring Original Camera Settings

 

After your event when you’re done using Slo-Mo Mode, you will want to set the camera settings back to their original settings to restore functionality to Boomerang and Video Mode captures.

To return to the original camera settings:

  1. Plug the Guac Booth into power

  2. Turn camera mode dial to the video camera icon

  3. Press Menu

  4. Select Movie rec quality

  5. Select High Frame Rate

  6. Set High Frame Rate to Disable

  7. Go to Menu 5

  8. Go down to Focus mode

  9. Set to AF

  10. Turn the camera dial back to M


What To Know

Creating a Slo-Mo Event in the Web App

 

When creating a Slo-Mo event in the web app, you will need to first select Guac as the Booth Type within the Event Proposal section.

If Guac is not selected in the Event Proposal section, Slo-Mo will not show as an option under Capture Modes.

To select Guac as the Booth Type:

  1. Log in to the Salsa web app

  2. Select your event or create a new event

  3. Click Configure Event

  4. Click Event Proposals

  5. Enable Event Proposals

  6. Select Guac

  7. Disable Event Proposals if not using, or keep enabled if desired

The Slo-Mo Capture mode will now be available in the Modes section.
