Camera Setup

The following parts are required to set up your Guac Photo Booth's R100 camera:

• Canon EOS R100 Camera
• Canon Stock Battery
• Canon Battery Adapter 
• Nikon AS-15 Flash Adapter
• Flash Sync Cable 
• Camera USB Sync Cable
• Guac Head

Explainer

Camera Settings

For All Capture Modes:

• Camera mode dial: Manual (M)
• AF Operation: ONE SHOT AF
• AF Method: Face + Tracking ( )
  • Note: For events with larger group captures, we recommend changing AF Method to Zone AF ( )
• Continuous Auto-Focus (AF): Enabled
• Focus Mode: Auto Focus (AF)
• Image Stabilization (IS): Disabled
• Image Quality: S1 (Fine)
• Auto Power Off: Disabled
• Movie Shooting Mode: Manual Exposure
   

For Slo-Mo Mode:

• All the previous settings
• High Frame Rate: Enabled
• Frame Rate: 119.9P

IMPORTANT: You may need to change the camera Mode Dial to Movie in order to access some of the above settings. Be sure to set the Mode Dial to Manual (M) after adjusting any settings on the camera.

Set Up Your Canon EOS R100

Follow the steps below to set up your Canon EOS R100 camera, and install the camera into your Guac Photo Booth.

Step 1: Attach the Flash Sync Cable

To attach the Flash Sync Cable:

1. Plug the threaded side of the sync cable into the Nikon AS-15 flash adapter
2. Rotate the threaded ring to securely attach the sync cable to the flash adapter
3. Unlock the bottom of the flash adapter by rotating the dial below where it says “LOCK” in the opposite direction from where the arrow is pointing
4. Attach the flash adapter to the camera by sliding it into the hot shoe on top of the camera, with the sync cable facing the front
5. Lock the flash adapter by rotating the dial below where it says "LOCK" in the same direction that the arrow is pointing until it is secure

Step 2: Unlock The Lens

To unlock the lens:

1. Looking down from the top of the camera, locate the switch on the side of the lens.
2. Unlock the lens by twisting it counterclockwise firmly
3. Continue to rotate the lens until the white dash above the Canon logo aligns with “18” on the lens
   Note: You should feel and hear a small click when the logo aligns with the “18” on the lens

Step 3: Set The Camera Mode Dial To M

To set the camera to Manual mode:

1. Locate the Mode Dial on the top of the camera
2. Rotate the dial until the white dash aligns with M (Manual exposure)

Step 4: Insert The Battery

To insert the R100 battery:

1. Looking at the bottom of the camera, open the battery compartment door by sliding it to the side
2. Insert the battery into the compartment until it locks into place
   Tip: The metal contacts on the battery should be facing in and on the side closest to the back of the camera

Note: If the camera does not turn on, remove the battery and charge it using the charger included in the camera box.

Step 5: Insert The SD Card

To insert the SD card:

1. Locate the SD card
2. Insert the SD card by sliding it into the slot just above the camera
3. Make sure that the metal connectors are facing the back of the camera
4. Press it in until it clicks into place
5. Close the battery compartment door
6. Turn the camera on by flipping the switch next to the Mode Dial

Note: If the camera does not turn on, remove the battery and charge it using the charger included in the camera box.

Step 6: Configure Camera Settings

Navigating the Camera Settings

The camera settings can be accessed by pressing the Menu button on the back of the camera.

You can then use the top, bottom, left, and right buttons found around the Set button to navigate through the settings screens.

The Set button can be used to select or confirm.
 

Turn Off Image Stabilization (IS)

1. Press Menu
2. Go to Menu 6
3. Go down and select IS (Image Stabilization) mode
4. Set IS mode to Off
    

Set to One Shot AF

1. Select Shooting settings
2. Go to Menu 4
3. Select AF operation
4. Set to ONE SHOT AF
    

Confirm AF Method

1. Select Shooting settings
2. Go to Menu 4
3. Go down to AF Method
4. Confirm AF Method is set to Face + Tracking ( )
   • Note: For events with larger group captures, we recommend changing AF Method to Zone AF ( )
      

Enable Continuous AF

1. Select Shooting settings
2. Go to Menu 4
3. Go down to Continuous AF
4. Set to Enable
    

Set Focus Mode to AF

1. Select Shooting settings
2. Go to Menu 4
3. Go down to Focus Mode
4. Set to AF(Auto Focus)
    

Set Image Quality to S1 (Fine)

1. Go to Menu 1
2. Set image quality to S1 (Fine)
   • Tip: Fine is identified by a smooth quarter circle icon.

Disable Auto Power Off

1. Press Menu
2. Move right to Function settings
3. Go to Menu 2
4. Go down to Power saving
5. Go down to Auto power off
6. Set to Disable
    

Set Display Control to Manual

1. Press Menu
2. Move right to Function settings
3. Go to Menu 3
4. Select Display Settings
5. Select Display Control
6. Set to Manual
    

Set Movie Shooting Mode to Manual Exposure

1. Turn mode dial to video camera icon
2. Press Menu
3. Select Shooting Settings
4. Go to Menu 1
5. Select Shooting Mode
6. Set to Manual Exposure
7. Turn the Mode Dial back to M
    

Note: Slo-Mo Mode requires additional camera settings.

Step 7: Swap In The Battery Adapter

To swap the R100 battery for the battery adapter:

1. Turn the camera off by flipping the on/off switch next to the Mode Dial
2. Open the battery compartment door again by sliding it to the side
3. Unlock and remove the battery by sliding the grey clip to the side
4. Insert the battery adapter into the camera until it locks into place
   Note: The metal contacts on the battery adapter should be on the side closest to the back of the camera and the plug should be facing you.
5. Feed the cable through the black rubber tab to the side of the battery compartment
6. Close the battery compartment door

Step 8: Reset The Lens

Before installing the camera into the Guac Booth, it is extremely important to first lock the R100’s lens again. Otherwise, it will not be possible to properly insert the camera into place. The R100, unlike the M50 Mk2, does not have a button to lock the lens, therefore the lens can be unlocked easily once inserted into the Guac.

To lock the R100 lens:

1. Rotate the lens so the 18 is aligned with the Canon logo
2. With a bit more force, continue rotating until the white dot is aligned with the Canon logo

You can now insert the camera without issue! 

Note: Failing to lock the lens before installing and removing the camera could result in damaging the lens.

Step 9: Install The Camera

To install the R100 into Guac:

1. Place your Guac head face down onto a clean, flat surface
2. Turn the knob on the back of Guac to unlock the back door
3. Use the knob to lift and remove the door, setting it to the side
4. Locate the camera nut and rubber washer
5. Place the rubber washer on top of the the camera rack and align it with the slit
6. Place the camera nut on the bottom side of the rack and screw it through the rack and the rubber washer to keep it from falling out
7. Place the camera into the Guac head and on top of the rack, aligning the camera nut with the tripod socket
8. Tighten the camera nut to secure the camera in place

Step 10: Connect The Cables

To connect the R100 cables to Guac:

1. Remove the protective stopper on the top of the Guac head and set it aside
2. Locate the Flash Sync Cable and feed it through the top of the Guac head
3. Locate the battery adapter cable attached to the inside of the Guac head
4. Plug the battery adapter cable into the battery power cable pre-installed in the Guac head
   Note: Make sure it is plugged in securely.
5. Locate the camera’s USB data cable and connect the larger USB plug (USB-A) into the USB hub
6. Open the USB and HDMI port cover on the right side of the camera
7. Connect the other end of the camera's USB data cable (USB-C) to the top port on the right side of the camera
8. Place the camera into the “On” position by flipping the on/off switch next to the Mode Dial
9. Unlock the camera lens by rotating counterclockwise to the “18” position

What To Know

Fiesta In-App Camera Settings

Along with the Canon Camera Settings, you also have control over the Fiesta iOS App's In-App Camera Settings. These settings work together to allow you the ability to fine-tune how captures will look when running a DSLR event using the Fiesta iOS App.
