What Is A VESA Mount?

Explainer-WhatIsAVESAMount.png

A VESA mount is a standardized mount used to attach a device to a wall, table, or stand, and is commonly used for mounting televisions and other displays. However, the Salsa 2 Roamer can also be attached to VESA mounts for permanent or semi-permanent installations.

VESA mounts are available in a variety of sizing patterns, such as 75mm x 75mm, 100mm x 100mm, and 200mm x 100mm.

VESA is not one specific mount or accessory. It is a universal mounting standard, which means you can choose a compatible third-party mount for your Salsa 2, as long as it matches the required VESA pattern and installation needs.

While VESA compatibility standardize the hole pattern, mount designs still vary, so the installation method, cable clearance, and service access can differ from one mount to another.

What To Know
Mount Compatibility

WhatToKnow-MountCompatibility.png

For Salsa 2 Photo Booth, a 100mm x 100mm VESA mount is required, and M4x8mm screws to attach the Salsa 2 Roamer to the mount are recommended.

Compatible mount styles include a low-profile wall mount, articulating wall mount, bolt-down table mount, and table-top base or pole mount. A wall mount can support an enclosed booth installation or a direct wall installation, while a table mount supports countertop or table installations.

Some mounts include an interface plate that allows the Salsa 2 Roamer to be attached after the mount is installed. Other mounts require the Roamer to be fastened during setup, which can make installation more difficult for a Salsa 2 Photo Booth.

Note: VESA mounting applies to Salsa 2 in Roamer mode. The Salsa 2 Handle must be removed before attaching the booth to a VESA mount.

How To
Install Salsa 2 On A VESA Mount

  1. Confirm that the mount uses a 100 x 100 VESA size
  2. Confirm that the mount accepts M4 mounting screws
  3. Remove the Salsa 2 Handle before installation
  4. Align the booth with the VESA plate or mount interface
  5. Secure the Salsa 2 Roamer to the VESA plate or mount interface using M4 screws that are at least 8mm long and no longer than 15mm
  6. Tighten the screws evenly until the booth is fully secured
  7. Confirm that the booth sits flat against the mount and does not shift during movement or adjustment
Note: Some VESA mount models include a screw to lock the VESA plate to the mount interface. If your VESA mount includes this screw, it is highly recommended to lock this in place.

What To Know
Cable Routing And Power

WhatToKnow-CableRoutingAndPower.png

Route the Salsa 2 USB-C power cable up and then down, regardless of the VESA mount type. This creates strain relief and helps reduce direct pull on the connector during normal use or adjustment.

For a low-profile mount, a right-angle USB-C connector is mandatory for clearance.

For a wall mount, a right-angle USB-C connector is strongly recommended, and the USB-C cable can be secured with zip ties or tape along the wall surface.

For a table mount, the cable can be secured to the pole with zip ties or cable management.

IMPORTANT: Salsa 2 requires a USB-C power cable rated for at least 100W.

How To
Route Cables And Power

Follow the installation instructions provided by the VESA mount manufacturer. The steps below only cover Salsa 2-specific considerations before attaching the booth to a compatible mount.

  1. Connect the power cable after the booth is mounted
  2. Check whether the mount leaves enough space for a standard connector
  3. Install a right-angle USB-C connector if a low-profile or wall mount limits rear clearance
  4. Route the cable upward first, and then downward to create strain relief
  5. If using a wall mount: Secure the cable to the wall with zip-tie mounts or tape
  6. If using a table mount: Secure the cable to the pole with zip ties or cable management products
  7. Confirm that the cable does not pinch, pull tight, or interfere with mount movement, if applicable

What To Know
Permanent Installation Considerations

WhatToKnow-PermanentInstallationConsiderations.png

For permanent or semi-permanent installations, M4 x 8mm Security Torx screws are a practical option because they are not easily removed, and are commonly available through general hardware suppliers.

Note: Security Torx screws require a T15 Security Screwdriver.

IMPORTANT: Electrical work behind a wall should only be completed by a licensed electrician. Electrical installation and in-wall electrical work can be hazardous.

How To
Secure A Permanent Installation

  1.  Choose a compatible wall mount with a 100 x 100 VESA pattern
  2.  Confirm that the mount hardware supports M4 screws
  3.  Remove the Salsa 2 Handle before installation
  4.  Secure the Salsa 2 Roamer to the VESA plate or mount interface using M4 x 8mm Security Torx screws for  added tamper resistance
  5.  Use a T15 security driver to tighten the screws
  6.  Attach a right-angle USB-C connector to the Salsa 2 Roamer if a low-profile or wall mount limits rear clearance
  7.  Route the USB-C power cable upward first, and then downward to create strain relief
  8.  Arrange external power and visible cable routing before placing the booth into service
  9.  Contact a licensed electrician for any behind-the-wall electrical work

What To Know
FAQ

Can you help with in-wall electrical installation?

  • No. In-wall electrical work can be hazardous, and should always be completed by a licensed electrician

Do all VESA mounts work the same way?

  • No. The 100 x 100 hole pattern is standardized, but the way a mount attaches and the amount of clearance it provides can vary by model

What screw size works for this installation?

  • The mount uses M4 screws
  • Screw length should be at least 8mm and no longer than 15mm

What screws work best for a permanent installation?

  • M4 x 8mm Security Torx screws are a strong option for a more permanent installation
  • A T15 security driver is required for installation and removal

When is a right-angle USB-C connector needed?

  • A right-angle connector is recommended when a low-profile wall mount leaves limited space behind the booth
