Start Printing Through Fiesta
Once AirPrint has been set up in the Fiesta iOS App and the AirPrint dongle has been connected, the next step is to connect the printer to the app and ensure everything is printing properly.
How to connect your AirPrint Dongle with your Fiesta event:
- Ensure your AirPrint dongle is connected to your iPad
- Launch the Fiesta iOS Software
- Select the event you wish to AirPrint from
- Select Configure Event
- Select the Sharing tab
- Select Printing from the dropdown navigation menu
- Turn the Use Chips As Default Printer setting off if it is on
- Tap the Select default printer section
- Select your printer from the drop down menu
Note: depending on the dongle you are using, multiple printer options may be shown. Make sure to select the print size (2x6, 2x6-2, 4x6, etc.) that matches your capture size. If your capture size is 4x6 but is not listed next to the printer name, select the printer that does not have a size listed next to the name.
How To Adjust Print Size
After the AirPrint dongle is connected, you can change the print size to match the size of your desired prints. This is most commonly used to switch between 2x6 photo strips, and 4x6 full-size photos.
How to adjust the print size with AirCastPro 3:
- Ensure that your iPad is connected to your AirCastPro 3
- Launch a web browser on your iPad (such as Safari or Chrome)
- Navigate to http://AirCastPro.local
- In the Printers list, select your printer
- Below the Printers list, select Edit
- Open the dropdown menu below Print Size
- Select your desired print size
Note: to print Double 2x6 photo strips, you will need to select the option for "2x6-2"
Note: to print 4x6 photos, you will need to select the option without "2x6-2" - Select Save
How to adjust the print size in Fiesta when using an AirCastPro 3:
- Log in to the Fiesta Software
- From the Events Screen, select your event
- Select Configure Event
- Select the Sharing tab
- Select the Printing settings
- Open the Select Default Printer menu
Note: if the Select Default Printer menu is grayed out, toggle off Use Chips As Default Printer -
Select the printer with the appropriate print size from the list that appears
- DNP DS620 should be selected for 4x6 prints
- DNP DS620 2x6-2 should be selected for 2x6 prints
Note: AirCastPro 3 automatically creates two printers for the iPad to use; one for 4x6 prints, and one for 2x6 prints. We recommend double-checking that you have the correct printer selected for the size of prints that you need.
Printing - Advanced Settings
Advanced Settings provide greater control over how Fiesta prints photos and photo templates.
Advanced Settings controls two aspects of the printout:
- Scale: the size of the image printed
- Offset: the alignment of the image printed
After the AirPrint settings are set up and the AirPrint dongle is connected, occasionally the ratio or size will be off. The Advanced Settings allow you to fine-tune the ratio and size in case they are off
Note: The Advanced Settings do not affect digital shares and only change how the images are printed.
Adjust Print Scale
Scaling works by increasing or decreasing the overall size of the photo or photo template frame.
- Default Value: 1.000
- Range of Value: 0.000 to 2.000
Increasing the value will make the image on the print appear smaller, whereas decreasing the value will make the image appear larger.
Example: If there are unexpected white borders around the printed image, you will want to decrease the Scale. If parts of the image are cut off, you will want to increase the Scale.
How to adjust the Scale:
- Log in to the Fiesta Software
- Select the event you wish to adjust the size settings
- Select the Sharing tab
- Select Printing from the left navigation menu
- Select Advanced Settings
- Adjust the Scale using the + and - buttons
Note: we recommend adjusting these in larger increments first, then smaller increments until the desired size and position are achieved.
Offset Prints
Offsetting works by moving the whole photo template either left and right, or up and down, on an X and Y axis.
- Default Values: 0
- Range of Values: -1800 to 1800
Increasing the X Offset value will shift the image to the right, whereas decreasing the X Offset will shift the image to the left.
Example: If you set the X Offset to 20, the image will be printed out 20 pixels to the right. -20 will move it 20 pixels to the left.
Increasing the Y Offset value will move the image down, whereas decreasing the Y Offset will move the image up.
Example: If you set the Y Offset to 20, the image will be printed 20 pixels lower. -20 will move it 20 pixels higher.
How to adjust the x and y Offset:
- Log in to the Fiesta Software
- Select the event you wish to adjust the x and y offset
- Select the Sharing tab
- Select Printing from the left navigation menu
- Select Advanced Settings
- Adjust the x or y offset using the + and - buttons
Note: we recommend adjusting these in larger increments first, then smaller increments until the desired size and position are achieved.
AirPrint Connection Issues
If you are experiencing issues connecting your AirPrint dongle, or if it is connected but the app will not print, here are a few things you can try:
If the AirPrint dongle is failing to connect before connecting to Wi-Fi:
- Ensure the AirPrint dongle is connected to power and turned on
- Unplug the AirPrint dongle, wait 30 seconds, and plug the AirPrint dongle back into power
- Check your iPad's Privacy & Security settings
If the AirPrint dongle is failing to connect after connecting to Wi-Fi:
-
Ensure your iPad is connected to the AirPrint dongle
-
- Note: with some dongles, the iPad must be separately connected to the Wi-Fi network. In this case, ensure the iPad is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the AirPrint dongle
-
- Ensure the AirPrint dongle is connected to power and turned on
- Check youriPad's Privacy & Security settings
-
Remove the AirPrint dongle from the Wi-Fi network, then reconnect the AirPrint dongle to the Wi-Fi network
-
- If the issue persists, you can run the Fiesta event in Offline Mode
-
If the Fiesta iOS App is failing to connect to the AirPrint dongle:
- Check your iPad's Privacy & Security settings
- Check your AirPrint dongle settings to ensure the printer is appearing as connected in your AirPrint dongle's list of connected printers
- Check the USB connection between the AirPrint dongle and the printer
If the Fiesta iOS App is failing to print after connected to the AirPrint dongle:
- Check your iPad's Privacy & Security settings
- Check the Printing settings in the Fiesta iOS App on your iPad
-
Ensure the correct printer, listed with the print size, is selected in the default printer dropdown menu
- Note: if your printer is listed twice, once with "2x6-2" and once without, the option without "2x6-2" is used for 4x6 printing.
Using Alternative Paper/Media Sizes
The recommended dye-sub printer media size to use when printing with the Fiesta Software is 4x6. This size is compatible with 2x6 and 4x6 Photo Template sizes.
However, due to high demand and global supply chain issues, 4x6 printer media may be difficult to find.
In these instances, most DNP printers support 6x8 printer paper and ink, which can be used for 2x6 and 4x6 prints on Fiesta.
When printing 2x6 Photo Templates with 6x8 printer media, make sure to set the Photo Template Printing Options to Double 2x6.
Note: using larger printer media may result in higher paper usage, particularly with 2x6 prints.
Disclaimer: we do not advise printing 6x6 Photo Templates on any media size, as the Photo Template will be stretched or squished for prints.
