General
A Photo Template in the Design Studio is a frame that can hold between one to four photo captures, traditionally for printing.
When designing a custom template, you can add and place up to four different placeholders for photo captures. The position in the design order and placement in the template can be adjusted, as well as the size of each placeholder.
Note: Unlike Overlays, Photo Templates have a background layer that is positioned behind all other design elements.

What To Know
The frames where photo captures are applied to Photo Templates are called Placeholders.
The number of placeholders in a Photo Template will determine the number of photo captures each template will take during a session with guests and apply to the final design. For example, a 2x6 photo template with three placeholders will require three separate captures to be taken.
The placeholders will be numbered 1 through 4, depending on the number added to the Photo Template, to indicate the order the captures will be taken.
A Photo Template can have up to four placeholders added, but requires at least one placeholder.

What To Know
Photo Template File Requirements
Photo Templates have four distinct sizes depending on the layout selected. These sizes determine the dimensions of your background and overlay files.
IMPORTANT: To ensure your design looks as it should, uploading the correct size for your background and/or overlay is necessary.
If you upload a background/overlay that is different than the required size, it will be stretched or shrunk to fit the size of the photo template. This may cause the image to look pixelated or distorted.
Below are the required dimensions (in pixels) for each photo template size:
-
2x6
- Portrait: 600 x 1800
- Landscape: 1800 x 600
-
4x6
- Portrait: 1200 x 1800
- Landscape: 1800 x 1200
-
4.5x6
- Portrait: 2316 x 3088
- Landscape: 3088 x 2316
- 6x6: 1800 x 1800
Note: Depending on whether your photo template’s orientation is portrait or landscape, the value may need to be switched.
